And the counterfeit is that we are not worthy and that we must perform to qualify for eternal life. Some believe that Salvation is a gift yes. Then they add the but. But we have to prove we are worthy to have it ... or it will be taken away from us. This is what the Devil would have us to believe. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Moderators John317 Posted March 13, 2009 Author Moderators Posted March 13, 2009 Please Michael ... don't believe that most SDAs are like this. This is a counterfeit. We as SDAs believe that Salvation is a free gift. Any thing other than that is a different gospel. No one can earn salvation. It is a free gift. But not all accept the gift and not all who initially claim to accept continue in it. Here is what Seventh-day Adventists believe and teach: "The investigative judgment reveals to heavenly intelligences who among the dead are asleep in Christ and therefore, in Him, are deemed worthy to have part in the first resurrection. It also makes manifest who among the living are abiding in Christ, keeping the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, and in Him, therefore, are ready for translation into His everlasting kingdom. This judgment vindicates the justice of God in saving those who believe in Jesus. It declares that those who have remained loyal to God shall receive the kingdom." As the books of record are opened in the judgment, the lives of all who have believed on Jesus come in review before God. Beginning with those who first lived upon the earth, our Advocate presents the cases of each successive generation, and closes with the living. Every name is mentioned, every case closely investigated. Names are accepted, names rejected. When any have sins remaining upon the books of record, unrepented of and unforgiven, their names will be blotted out of the book of life, and the record of their good deeds will be erased from the book of God's remembrance. The Lord declared to Moses: "Whosoever hath sinned against Me, him will I blot out of My book." Exodus 32:33. And says the prophet Ezekiel: "When the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, . . . all his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned." Ezekiel 18:24. All who have truly repented of sin, and by faith claimed the blood of Christ as their atoning sacrifice, have had pardon entered against their names in the books of heaven; as they have become partakers of the righteousness of Christ, and their characters are found to be in harmony with the law of God, their sins will be blotted out, and they themselves will be accounted worthy of eternal life. Michael144 Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 You look at other Christians from different denomination and say in your mind that they don't keep the Sabbath therefore they will take the mark of the beast. I was an Adventist so I know you think this. But how are you judging them? By the law? NEWS FLASH! There are 9 other commandments J317. You believe that you "keep the Sabbath" creating tunnel vision and forgetting you can't keep the other 9 let alone the Sabbath. Look at yourself in the mirror (the law) and say to yourself that you "keep" the Sabbath. You can't and don't J317. I mean it is about the truth is it not. People say one thing and do another and so far only Redwood has confessed this. We need Jesus. You need You and Jesus of course...Can a leopard change his spots J317? The scripture says our righteousness is as filthy rags so what does that make our condition of sin? Death...Your flesh according to the scripture is no longer in the gospel picture. This is why Paul said...It is no longer I that sin but sin in me that is in my flesh...Notice he is separating himself (the new inward man) from his flesh. He dies daily because he is killed by the law. Look at the law and you die. Your flesh is dead with not one shred of righteousness in it...You are born again...Two in the field...Yes all will be saved because He is able. You talk about choices and yet continue in your sin not explaining why you keep sinning since it is about choice right? Have you made the choice yet? Evidently a little sin isn't as deadly as killing 60 million people is it. The wages of sin are death....Do you still sin Sabbath keeper? You do not have the humility to answer this question in a yea or nea fasion because your heart is lifted up thinking that you contribute to your salvation. If the beast is the Papacy then the mark of that beast is self righteousness. "Look at me Lord I do this" When the savior himself said [why callest thou me good...there are NONE that are good...] Is it plain enough English for you? Quote 1 Corinthians4:5
Woody Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Michael ... Let me quote an Adventist Author via Robert here on the forum. This is what we as SDAs believe ... "And when I stand before the judgment seat of God, and the law of God says to me, “Have you obeyed me?” I will not say to the law, “Well, I did my best.” The law says, “I did not ask that question.” “Well, I kept most of the law.” The law will say, “I did not ask you that question either. Have you obeyed me in every detail?” “Well, I goofed up a few times.” And the law says, “I’m sorry, you must die. Once is enough.” But I thank God I will not answer the law that way. I will say, “Yes, I have obeyed you perfectly.” The law will say, “When did you obey me perfectly?” “When I was in Christ. Then I had perfect obedience.” But the law will say, “You’re a sinner, you must die.” And I will say to the law, “Well I have bad news for you, I have already died.” The law will say, “When did you die?” I will quote to the law Galatians 2:20: I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live.... The law will say, “Well, if that’s your position, then you are free to live.” And I will say to the law, “Thank you.” Because, in Christ, the law has been established on behalf of you and me. That is what verse 31 says. God doesn’t bypass His law to justify us. God holds His integrity to His law when He justifies me through His Son Jesus Christ. Because, in His Son’s holy history, God has met every demand of the law for you and for me. That is the “good news” of the Gospel. Isn't this good news?" (From Rob via Jack S.) Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Ellen White also has a few things to say. Here are a few ... "Since we are sinful, unholy, we cannot perfectly obey the holy law. We have no righteousness of our own with which to meet the claims of the law of God. But Christ has made a way of escape for us. He lived on earth amid trials and temptations such as we have to meet. He lived a sinless life. He died for us, and now He offers to take our sins and give us His righteousness. If you give yourself to Him, and accept Him as your Saviour, then, sinful as your life may have been, for His sake you are accounted righteous. Christ's character stands in place of your character, and you are accepted before God just as if you had not sinned." Steps to Christ p. 62 "So I will be your representative in heaven. The Father beholds not your faulty character, but He sees you as clothed in My perfection." DA 357 "The only way in which he can attain to righteousness is through faith. By faith he can bring to God the merits of Christ, and the Lord places the obedience of His Son to the sinner's account. Christ's righteousness is accepted in place of man's failure, and God receives, pardons, justifies, the repentant, believing soul, treats him as though he were righteous, and loves him as He loves His Son. This is how faith is accounted righteousness" 1 SM 367 Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

As I said Redwood..I was an Adventist for 15 years and many many of them believe in a works based salvation...Trust me I know this...I witnessed longtime members argue about not having a meeting inside the "holy" sanctuary. Sorry but my pizza is coming loaded with sausage. HAHA! I rejoice for the SDA because I learned how to DIG DIG DIG....Just like the theme of the book Animal Farm, the animals were suppressed by the farmers until one day the farmers were driven out and the animals took over. They said they would do things right like equality and sharing but no tyranny as the farmers treated them. Next thing you know the pigs are walking on two feet taking for themselves slaves in the other "weaker" animals....The moral of the story in short is no matter how righteous a movement starts out, human nature always prevails..PERIOD... If I'm right won't that be incredible that God was able to convince every man in his own time that He is who He says He is without us realizing he did it? 1 Corinthians 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.
