Robert Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV You are using this incorrectly...."Christ in you" is equivalent to fruit...."You in Christ" is speaking of how He saved us....It refers to the cross. "In Him" we are a new creation...literally without sin "in Him".....Pay attention to details.... Summary: You in Christ is what saves... Christ in you is what witnesses to that salvation, albeit you fall short.... Quote
Robert Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.."Galatians 5:19-24 NKJV Blessings! Notice nothing about tithing or Sabbath keeping.... As to "practice" it means those who do not confess/repent, but insist on living for the flesh.... Quote
Matt25OilCrisis Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Looks like the 'unusual suspects' (Musicman1228, Dr. Rich, and wayfinder) have been identified, vilified, and rounded up. Now, how are they going to be tried? Under the law or apart from the law? That might require a certain 'inspection' to determine which applies. Anyway, there can't be a trial because there can be no time or date setting. Might be simpler to just run them out of town with a 'brave show of force' by the townspeople. Better get all this done before the 'Let My People Go' posters start coming off the press and going up on the telegraph poles. Quote
Richard Holbrook Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 If anyone, living or dead, says something different from those to whom this authority has been given by Jesus Christ Himself then they are the ones that should be placed under suspicion, not the one that uses the words of Jesus Christ as recorded by His eyewitness disciples. No one here has said anything different from those to whom Jesus gave authority to. The difference is that most people on this forum have not discarded Ellen G. White or Paul, James, Peter, Luke, and so on. To do so would not be wise. Quote
Musicman1228 Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Then put them to the test of the words of Jesus Christ. If they match up, terrific. If they don't then you know for sure and nothing is lost. Quote
wayfinder Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Jer 14:14 Then the LORD said to me, "The prophets are prophesying falsehood in My name. I have neither sent them nor commanded them nor spoken to them; they are prophesying to you a false vision, divination, futility and the deception of their own minds. La 2:14 Your prophets have seen for you False and foolish {visions;} And they have not exposed your iniquity So as to restore you from captivity, But they have seen for you false and misleading oracles. Eze 13:9 "So My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will have no place in the council of My people, nor will they be written down in the register of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel, that you may know that I am the Lord GOD. Eze 22:28 "Her prophets have smeared whitewash for them, seeing false visions and divining lies for them, saying, 'Thus says the Lord GOD,' when the LORD has not spoken. All I am saying is this, test all those who claim to have a divine connection. Test those by the standard of the Law and the true prophets of God. The evil one has been doing this for a long time and he knows what works and what doesn't. Don't think that just because someone expresses something totally new it must come from the devil, test it. I have been accused of working in league with the serpent, test what I have posted against the Law and the true prophets of God. I have never and will never say that God has misled us through His words, and we cannot trust Him. I will never encourage disobedience of God's commands. Quote

The posts that do this will be deleted or edited. If anyone wants to discuss this at length, take it to a private thread. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Richard Holbrook Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Eze 13:9"So My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will have no place in the council of My people, nor will they be written down in the register of the house of Israel, This one proves my point. Since God said his hand would be against the false prophets, and that they would have no place in the counsel of his people, or be written down, it would be absurd then to think that God would turn around and allow them to be included in his Word, the Holy Bible. Moderators John317 Posted August 2, 2009 Moderators Posted August 2, 2009 Exactly. The New Testament quotes most of the Old Testament books. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. wayfinder Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 John317, I have no problem with this, I have not made every thread a test of Paul or others, I appreciate the dialog. You are the one who interrupted the dialog I was having with RH about timing, accusing me of using the serpents tactics with the comparison to the deception of Eve. Just so you know I have nothing against you, I have never met you. I am praying for you and others on this forum. Quote

BobRyan Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 When you come to an SDA web site and understand the SDAs accept 66 books of scripture as the bible it is pointless to respond in the form "I reject that book of the bible" time after time. If you go to a Catholic web site you may start a subject thread on the validity of the Apocrypha - but they will not allow you to insert debate over the Apocrypha into every topic thread whenever they reference the Apocrypa. When in Rome - do as the Romans, is a matter of practicality. If people wish to "agree" in the form "Yes if you take the 66 books of scripture as valid then the point you are making from the writings of Paul is well established from scripture" -- then fine, you actually have a point of agreement - move on to the next point in that case. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." Lutz13 Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 This one proves my point. Musicman1228 Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Richard, That is assuming that God is in minute control of everything that His people have access to as to truth. In other words God precisely dictates who and what can be seen and learned by 'true Christian believers' so that they are completely protected (shielded) from the deceptions of Satan when it comes to the truth about God. God will not let anyone that truly believes in Jesus Christ be deceived. Did I get that right? Quote
wayfinder Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 R.H. You assume quite a bit. Please show me where God has revealed that the Bible is His word to His people. This doesn't fly with anyone who has performed unbiased research on the subject. I agree that the Law and Prophets did not include the false prophets words, just as God said. The "New Testement" did not exist when God made this statement. The context is to the time of the prophets of Israel. My point in posting them was to show that all those who make claims of visions and prophecy are not necessarily working for God. Quote

You on the other hand are assuming that when it came to the Bible God just backed off, threw up his hands and said: Have at it Satan. Do whatever you want... If that were the case, we wouldn't even have a Bible. History shows that Satan tried to destroy it and couldn't. So yes God does protect his word. Quote
wayfinder Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 R.H. That is not what I am saying nor have I ever thought that. The parable of the wheat and tares is a good explanation of what I understand about the compilation of the New Testament. I know you don't agree with me on that, but it certainly is not God just throwing His hands up and giving it over to the devil. The Son of Man planted good seed and the devil planted tares. Quote
Richard Holbrook Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Tares in the church, yes. Tares in scripture? No. Quote
Dr. Rich Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 R.H. so tell me--how did the tares get to be tares (in the church)? And please, if you can, point out the difference? Quote

wayfinder Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 RH The wheat are the sons of the kingdom. The tares are sons of the devil, together they are the church (worship Christ). The good seed was planted by the Son of Man the tares by the devil. The seed is either truth (wheat) or lies (tares). Quote
Richard Holbrook Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Like I said wf, Tares in the church, yes. Tares in scripture? No. Quote
Dr. Rich Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 RH--I asked it if you could point out the tares from the wheat? Can you? And answer this too--why hasn't anyone all of these years ever pointed out the difference? Quote
Richard Holbrook Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 You have to be careful pointing them out DR. You could be one of them. Quote
