Are We Redeemed?

(13) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

This verse says we are redeemed from the curse of the Law.

Blessed is he who's deliverance is in the hands of the Lord!

As we progressed, the path still continued to grow narrow. We were obliged to press close to the wall, to save ourselves from falling off the narrow road steep precipice. As we did this, the luggage on the horses pressed against the wall, and caused us to sway toward the precipice. We feared that we should fall, and be dashed in pieces on the rocks. We then cut the luggage from the horses, and it fell over the precipice. We continued on horseback, greatly fearing, as we came to the narrower places in the road, that we should lose our balance and fall. At such times, a hand seemed to take the bridle, and guide us over the perilous way. {CET 179.3}

As the path grew more narrow, we decided that we could no longer go with safety on horseback, and we left the horses and went on foot, in single file, one following in the footsteps of another. At this point small cords were let down from the top of the pure white wall; these we eagerly grasped, to aid us in keeping our balance upon the path. As we traveled,

We know it is not the fault of most that hold to some of the teachings that have come in and I pray that many will be awakened to catch wherein is the truth of the matter.

Yes certainly we'll get some heat as a man is bound to defend what he has come to believe. So we understand that and do not become heated ourselves.

We are all learners and attempting teachers and with His Spirit directions will change. And that includes us without doubt.

In the end days - the danger is not of non-compliance to the Commandments. The danger is thinking we can CAN comply.

Woody, I do beg to differ with your statement above and if you think about it in sincerity I think you would like reverse your statement there.

This is a EGW quote that stems from Johns statement in Rev 14:12

"All who shall unite to praise and honor and glorify those who have lifted the banner of Satan are fighting against God. Our work now is to enlighten the world, in the place of bearing a peace-and-safety message. A banner has been placed in our hands, upon which is inscribed, "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." This is a distinct, separating message,-- a message that is to give no uncertain sound. It is to lead the people away from the broken cisterns that contain no water, to the fountain of living waters."--Letter 60, 1898. {CW 102.2}

Re 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Christ gave us free will, we can make choices. If we want to steal it is our choice. Christ can give us strength but ultimately it is our choice to obey or follow our own carnal nature.

Moreover, would He give us 10 Laws that were impossible to follow?

Following the commandments calls for right behavior. Sin is deeper than mere behavior. What we need is a new heart. This is essentially the point Jesus was making when he said "You have heard that it has been said...." and proceeded to go deeper.

In other words, it is not that difficult to refrain from murder. But to refrain from hating someone is much more difficult. But to love our enemies... there you have what seems an impossible challenge. And what might that require us to do? To take your example of choosing or not to steal, it's not just enough to not take some stuff from another, but Jesus said we need to be willing to give all of our stuff to others, even our enemies.

And that is just two of the ten. Then multiple the difficulty level tenfold. Then one has to put an absolute time value on it. We are not talking about a one time gold medal moment of doing it perfectly in one test of performance. What is required is not merely to be sin free for a moment or a day or a week or even a year. Think of for the rest of your life without a single error with assurance that it can last for eternity.

But really, we are not just called to be perfectly sinless. We called to be perfectly righteous. (That explains the vast difference noted in the quote in my signature line.)

I could have picked anyone of the ten ... that was just an example. No Gold Metal moment expected or requested. Yes, we have to have a right heart ... but do we not have to make choices day by day? Or, do we get our new hearts and just go about our way 'cause God is going to take care of the rest of it.

Not 'the rest of it'. God takes care of ALL of it. If God is not in it - I don't want it.
