So Ellen White is wrong, but now here you are quoting her as proof of something. That's a strange logic Robert.

...But without the fruits....

Ellen White wasn't speaking about fruits. She was stating that nothing can be added to the gospel (the robe, if you will).

Your works of faith aren't part of the gospel equation. Christ doesn't take your works and His works and then present you perfect. No, it's the gospel that saved you. You can't add to the gospel. The fruits of the gospel is another topic. Sanctification isn't the gospel. It's not what saves. Sanctification is not meritorious. Rather it's demonstrative.

However, the subject on this posting is the gospel attacked by the papacy. Hence will the real gospel please stand up.

Sister White brings out that to obtain The Robe of Christ's righteousness requires surrender.

Gibs!!! I'm not discussing surrender, works or anything like that....I'm discussing the gospel. Stay with the subject or please go away. Stop beating folks over the head with your law stick. Let them read about what Christ did 2000 years ago.

What do you believe these texts mean Robert?

They have nothing to do with the subject.

offtopic

You guys are either

1] False brethren come to steal away our peace in Christ

or

2] You are idiots incapable of sticking to the subject at hand

or

3] you have no clue to what constitutes the gospel

or

4] all three of the above.

How can God justify the ungodly [Romans 4:5] and still maintain His integrity to His holy law which condemns sinners [Galatians 3:10]? According to the Bible itself no law will allow an innocent person to die for the crime of a guilty one!

This is the subject!

Robert really got off topic there. It is your thread though and so we just follow up in response to your queries.

Robert you want to make it all one way streets, just Roberts downhill way.

Well do not we have a right to disagree and comment that back? You do so on our theads.

The gospel is far more reaching and includes more than you make it.

OK who is saying "According to the Bible itself no law will allow an innocent person to die for the crime of a guilty one!". You or Gibs?

It doesn't include Christ's works in you (sanctification). That work is on going. It is never complete. It isn't meritorious.

The gospel was God's work "in Christ Jesus". That work is complete. If not, what can you add to it?

That would be me!

Ez 18:19 "Yet you say, 'Why should the son not bear the guilt of the father?' Because the son has done what is lawful and right, and has kept all My statutes and observed them, he shall surely live. 20 The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

Guilt can't be transferred. The soul that sins is the one that must die.

Gen 22:18 And in your descendants shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because you have obeyed my voice.

Why does the very thought of obeying God make you foam at the mouth Robert? You should seriously ask yourself that question.

Robert, if you are not gaining a little every day you are falling back either a little or a lot.

Marching onward upward we go is the way of a Christian in Christ and He in you.

"Sanctification is a progressive work. The successive steps are set before us in the words of Peter: "Giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ" 2 Peter 1:5-8. "Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: for so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ" verses 10, 11. {CCh 50.4}

Here is a course by which we may be assured that we shall never fall. Those who are thus working upon the plan of addition in obtaining the Christian graces have the assurance that God will work upon the plan of multiplication in granting them the gifts of His Spirit. 14 {CCh 51.1}

Sanctification is not the work of a moment, an hour, or a day. It is a continual growth in grace. We know not one day how strong will be our conflict the next. Satan lives, and is active, and every day we need to cry earnestly to God for help and strength to resist him. As long as Satan reigns we shall have self to subdue, besetments to overcome, and there is no stopping place, there is no point to which we can come and say we have fully attained. {CCh 51.2}

The Christian life is constantly an onward march. Jesus sits as a refiner and purifier of His people; and when His image is perfectly reflected in them, they are perfect and holy, and prepared for translation. A great work is required of the Christian. We are exhorted to cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Here we see where the great labor rests. There is a constant work for the Christian. Every branch in the parent vine must derive life and strength from that vine, in order to yield fruit. 15 {CCh 51.3}

NOT THE SUBJECT!

The Sacrifice of Christ as an atonement for sin is the great truth around which all other truths cluster. In order to be rightly understood and appreciated, every truth in the Word of God, from Genesis to Revelation, must be studied in the light that streams from the cross of Calvary. I present before you the great, grand monument of mercy and regeneration, salvation and redemption,—the Son of God uplifted on the cross. This is to be the foundation of every discourse given by our ministers.—Gospel Workers, 315.

Robert, we all agree on your last post, it is your idea of what the true gospel is and what it includes. I cannot agree with you and you think we ought but we must do and believe what Christ has led us to see and do.

By the way you brought up sanctification and I enlarged on it.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

And for this reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

And to knowledge self control; and to self control patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness love.

For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But he that lacks these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and has forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. {2Pet 1:5-9}

So, you take it that we can add to Christ's perfect work of redemption? Do you think we can improve on what He did in our corporate humanity 2000 years ago?

Who here is trying to add anything to what Jesus did?

You're beating up a straw man Robert. He's down already, stop wailing on him. The straw is coming out. lol

RLH posted a verse that said "add to YOUR faith,--

No implication of adding to Christ's perfect work, it is you me and all who are to grow and add!

Read more careful, above you should have got it, I do not agree with your idea of the gospel

And yours is in line with Roman - it originates from Babylon.

And how did Christ deliver you from under the curse of the law?

At least Robert my idea of it lines up with the Bible and SOP.

"I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel" (Genesis 3:15). Here was the first promise of a Saviour who would stand on the field of battle to contest the power of Satan and prevail against him. Christ came to our world to represent the character of God as it is represented in His holy law; for His law is a transcript of His character. Christ was both the law and the gospel. The angel that proclaims the everlasting gospel proclaims the law of God; for the gospel of salvation brings men to obedience of the law, whereby their characters are formed after the divine similitude. {2SM 106.2}

The following is not understood by many, please read,

Isaac a Figure of Christ.--The offering of Isaac was designed by God to prefigure the sacrifice of His Son. Isaac was a figure of the Son of God, who was offered a sacrifice for the sins of the world. God desired to impress upon Abraham the gospel of salvation to men; and in order to make the truth a reality, and to test his faith, He required Abraham to slay his darling Isaac. All the agony that Abraham endured during that dark and fearful trial was for the purpose of deeply impressing upon his understanding the plan of redemption for fallen man (Ibid., March 1, 1900). {1BC 1094.5}

You have no idea of what constitutes the gospel. All you do is quote EGW out of context.
