Ok Woody. . .Below is my opinion of football with a pertinent work of art to illustrate my point and as a freebie I will even throw in a scripture.

It's great exercize and helps support the livelyhood of doctors in the medical community and funeral parlor businesses.

"31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."(1 Cor 10:31)

This is why this thread is so applicable. It asks the question of whether or not promoting a sport specifically condemned by one of God's prophets - is somehow "doing all to the glory of God" -- because if so - then the up coming national Sunday Law may not be so bad after all.

Thanks for the football highlights Bob. Yeah - it's a mans sport. ONly real men play it. But in your highlights - I think the loud music was over dramatizing it. You know - they do wear pads that you and I don't wear generally.

I loved all those good hits. (Well except for one of the last ones against the 49ers player. It went to fast for me to recognize which player it was.

Now - what was your point except for entertaining us?

And might I add - that football looks much better on a HD Widescreen TV with surround sound and popcorn.

Methinks their point is that football is a violent, dangerous, and completely worthless activity without any social redeeming value. Kinda like my art except that very rarely does one get physically injured by abstract art unless they get a paper cut from it . . .

There's always an excuse to dismiss something she says. I can provide a hundred excuses that people such as you often times use. Do you need some excuses before I show where you disagree with some of her messages?

Not sure how to take your post Woody! The first sentence you say that Bob believes every message that she gives, and than you end it with "I show where you disagree with some of her messages?"

It can't be both. From all the posts I've read from Bob I have never seen where he disagrees with EGW, or dismisses something she wrote!

Look, under law, football participation belongs to the kingdom of Satan because it is based on self-seeking & self-glory. And yes it is brutal.

However, we must remember, what Ellen White said:

"There was not one trace of selfishness in the life of Christ. All who are laborers together with God will have the same spirit as their Master had. They will be continually growing away from selfishness, and renouncing self-indulgence, even in things that had once appeared innocent to them. . ." [LHU 325]

To some football is "innocent to them". Of course this can be applied to many sins. God has His ways of pointing sins out in our lives and if we remain in Him by faith He will do this.

At one time I did martial arts. I ate, slept and breathed it. Now I see it for what it is - violence - an eye of eye. It's based on the same principle of football - who is the greatest.

The best way to hate certain sins is to experience those sins until you begin to hate those sins. Experience is sometimes the best teacher.
