Guest Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Oh, that's right. You're not even supposed to touch a pig. haha! Quote
BobRyan Posted December 24, 2012 Author Posted December 24, 2012 Hmmm, mybe it's the "pigskin" that makes it so abominable, do ya suppose! LOL! The temple was made of porpoise skin and the saints of the OT traveled by donkey and camel, and horse back etc. So touching the leather or hide was never a problem even in OT days. OK so according to the Bible the pigs cannot be eaten -- but then that is not part of the sport. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." Members phkrause Posted December 24, 2012 Members Posted December 24, 2012 Lev 11:8 Of their flesh shall you not eat, and their carcass shall you not touch; they are unclean to you. Actually I do believe that that text is referring to a dead carcass. Just my .10 worth of opinion. :) Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Guest Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 After it's made into a football, is it not still dead? And is it not still the carcass? Quote

Guest Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 I must admit, that I have enjoyed watching some Carolina Panther games on tv. And the players were having a ball! I have Wesley Walls' autograph, that I got some years back. He was great. A nice guy too. Quote
Members phkrause Posted December 25, 2012 Members Posted December 25, 2012 Yes to the first part, but no to the second, but here is a link as to what a football is made of:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_%28ball%29 so it looks like the actual part that's being touched is made of leather and pigskin, but the inner bladder was originally made of pigskin, not anymore it seems? ps: looks like you'll have to copy and paste the URL. Woody Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Thanks pk. That should settle matters and end this thread for once and all. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

I have Wesley Walls' autograph, that I got some years back. He was great. A nice guy too. I too have watched countless football games and played football in school and at home with friends countless times. I don't think I have a single quote on this thread saying that nobody enjoys the game. In fact that post that you responded to - points to a lot of enjoyment in the game. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." Originally Posted By: RLH Lev 11:8 Of their flesh shall you not eat, and their carcass shall you not touch; they are unclean to you. And even the sanctuary itself is made of porpoise skins. Also unclean animals. So nothing in the Bible or in Ellen White's statements about the pigskin leather being the problem. At least none that I know of. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." COL 316.
BobRyan Posted December 25, 2012 Author Posted December 25, 2012 Instead of all this 'carcass' talk. Get the Christmas Spirit man. So err... ummm.. you don't like the fact that I claim that touching pigskin leather is not a violation of either the writings of Ellen White - nor of the Bible? Would you "prefer" that I find some fault in that as well??? Or are you saying that we should not quote anything that Ellen White says about football -- during football season because it cuts across "someone preference"?? in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." BobRyan Posted December 25, 2012 Author Posted December 25, 2012 Do we now live in a world where Christian preference trumps messages that God gives to His prophets??? Some may believe that - but surely we can all see that not everyone on ClubAdventist is going to go for that solution. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." BobRyan Posted December 27, 2012 Author Posted December 27, 2012 Some will go for pagan celebrations and some on Club A will not. Start a thread on that topic -- include some quotes. BobRyan Posted December 29, 2012 Author Posted December 29, 2012 Oh well, the old ball game will go on! Indeed it will. Free will being what it is - all can make their own choice in the matter. But should we be promoting it from the pulpit if in fact we accept the ministry of Ellen White as a true prophet? in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin."
