Robert Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Still not a straight answer Rob. If I have this agape love: Can I feel happy? Can I feel sad? Can I feel anything? Agape doesn't think of self....Agape thinks only of the needs of others. Stop worrying about how you feel....This is very self-centered. As I said, you need a Savior. Christ my man, Christ is the answer.
Robert Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 What is it you can't understand, there isn't anything in it for me. Bonnie...maybe this will help: Give all your possessions to your neighbor. That's agape. Don't hold anything back. After all Christ was willing to do much more - die - so you could have heaven even when you wouldn't give Him the time of day. That's agape.

Christ my man, Christ is the answer. If we thought only of others we would starve to death and be of no good to others. If and when I come to see that there is something I need saving from I will go looking for a Saviour. Until then I will find teachers and guides to help me on this journey through life. But if I was agape I would not worry about being saved now would I? Cause I would not be concerned with myself.

Maybe this will help you.Robert, get busy and do it and show the rest of us that your claims for others are true convictions of yours. Now that might show some "agape" Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
bonnie Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 What, be good? I can't be good. I can only rest in Christ finished work. Now He can do some good through me, but that doesn't contribute to my standing in Him. Why do you continue to make false claims as to what others have said? How can He do anything good thru someone that says "I don't have to Christ,I am resting in what you have already done? Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. Robert Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Look at a very self-righteous person, who thought he had arriveded. Notice also he was very rich: Matt 19:16 "Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?" 17 So He said to him,....No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." 18 He said to Him, "Which ones?" Jesus said, "'You shall not murder,' 'You shall not commit adultery,' 'You shall not steal,' 'You shall not bear false witness,' 19 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' " 20 The young man said to Him (smugly), "All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?" 21 Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." That's loving your neighbor as you love yourself. Living for their wealth, not your own. In a perfect world others would be living for you and hence you would have wealth from the agape of others. But we are in a world based on self-seeking and sin. All of us are falling short of the requirements of God's law. Hence our only hope is the righteousness of Christ imputed to us. Then, as we rest in His finished work, we can begin to experience His imparted righteousness. But only if we are resting.
bonnie Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Oh I was raised with that Bonnie - I know exactly what it does to a child It is really sad when that happens, but in some it is easy to see the results. Whether that led you to leave Christianity or not you seem to have escaped the bitterness that others have. I have seen that happen to children as well. I watched a neighbor do the same to his young wife. Nothing she did could ever measure up,while nothing he did had to. I am sure most would not be surprised to find they divorced, she is very happy now with a wonderful husband and he has gone thru another looking for one that could measure up. God does not do that to us,or I don't believe He does. Nor do I think as long as we can't measure up,He wants us to say,"I can't measure up so I don't have to do anything I don't want to do". Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. First show the self righteous person here that believes they have arrived. That is a invention in your own mind,to make your claims acceptable and believable. bonnie Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 No I did not escape the bitterness. It plagued me and ate at me for years. Part of the reason I signed up here was to face the demon that was the SDA church and get past the bitterness. Its working..... I am sorry to hear that. I am glad it is working for you.Stick around, you may find some different than what you grew up being told I can't imagine growing up under that constant barrage. I don't and never have believed God is standing there whipping you with what a filthy wretch you are. Compared to One that I believe is perfect in all ways,of course nothing else can even come close. In my mind claiming to be a Christian compels certain behaviors. Not perfectly of course,we all fail, but it is not a license to "I don't have to,Christ did it all". The "I have to" comes as a result of what you claim to be,not a shorter route to heaven. I couldn't under any circumstances turn my back on my elderly neighbor, simply based on what I claim as a Christian.I may fail when she needs me most, but that is no excuse to say "I don't have to" Everything you do is based on the choices you make. bonnie Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I really don't care.... That has been painfully obvious, otherwise you would not be throwing answers around to non-existent claims that you attribute to others. Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Robert Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Bonnie, You strive on nonsense. If you are interested in talking about the Bible, do so, I will not waste my time with your foolishness.
Robert Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Part of the reason I signed up here was to face the demon that was the SDA church and get past the bitterness. Its working..... Throwing the baby out with bath water is not the answer. Giving up Christ due to others is, well, stupid!

You need to be saved from under law to under grace. Remaining in your position means that you are self-righteous. Everyone who rejects Christ does so because they are good in their own eyes. Quote: Until then I will find teachers and guides to help me on this journey through life. They are mortal. Put not your trust in fallen men.... Oh my friend, I am far from good. I have many many faults. It is not mortal men I refer too. But I am glad you bring that up. It means you understand why I don't put much faith in your theology. You are after all a fallen man.

Robert Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 It means you understand why I don't put much faith in your theology. You are after all a fallen man. Absolutely. Check out my theology against the Bible. It's the final word.
Robert Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Bonnie, enough complaining already. Is this all you do? Go to your Bible if you disagree with me. Otherwise I'm not going to waste my time.
Robert Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Oh my friend, I am far from good. I have many many faults. Then you know the solution? Not a church...not a psychiatrist, Christ....

I could do so a million times more and I still don't think I could find your theology in it. Its a word, but I don't think it is the final one.

Have to say this is about the silliest post yet. Complaining about what? I asked you a question that you again refuse to answer.Which poster here has claimed to have "arrived"? That shouldn't be difficult or to time consuming I disagree with you,not the bible. For some reason my bible has more to it than the selected messages your bible has. But this is typically your response when called upon with a direct question .Instead of a direct answer you answer with sarcasm. Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Robert Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 ....I still don't think I could find your theology in it. Okay....Don't waste time....There are no second chances. Today is the day of your salvation. Don't play around. Jesus can't force you to accept His gift, you can reject it, but that's like doing your own self in. Your choice.
bonnie Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Promise? As long as you refuse to answer while claiming what God demands of others it is welcome news. Not surprising tho as that has been you chosen method of "preaching(condemning others) the gospel" for years. Someone that cannot apply his "preaching" to himself has little of value to offer others Everything you do is based on the choices you make.
