Q.E.D. Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 "I will destroy thee, O covering cherub" "Then the end will come. God will vindicate His law and deliver His people. Satan and all who have joined him in rebellion will be cut off. Sin and sinners will perish, root and branch, (Mal. 4:1),–Satan the root, and his followers the branches. The word will be fulfilled to the prince of evil, "Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God; . . . I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. . . . Thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more." Then "the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be;" "they shall be as though they had not been." Ezek. 28:6-19; Ps. 37:10; Obadiah 16." skyblue888 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Yes the Lord has said to Satan, "I will destroy thee, O covering cherub from the midst of the stones of fire..." His destruction will take place after the 1,000 years. Speaking of that time, we read, "The time has come for a last desperate struggle against the King of Heaven. He rushes into the midst of his subjects and endeavors to inspire them with his own fury and arouse them to instant battle. But of all the countless millions whom he has allured into rebellion, there are none now to acknowledge his supremacy. His power is at an end. The wicked are filled with the same hatred of God that inspires Satan; but they see that their case is hopeless, that they cannot prevail against Jehovah. Their rage is kindled against Satan and those who have been his agents in deception, and with the fury of demons they turn upon them. 'Says the Lord: 'Because you have set your heart as the heart of God; behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon you, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom, and they shall defile your brightness. They shall bring you down to the Pit' 'I will destroy you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire... I will cast you down to the ground, I will lay you before kings, that they may behold you... I will bring you to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold you... You shall be a terror, and never shall you be any more." Ezekiel 28:6-8,16-19. So the meaning of God's words is unmistakable. God will not interfere when the terrible of the nations shall turn their weapons against Satan and his angels (the very weapons that they had planned to used to take the City) and they will bring him down to the Pit: the lake of fire. That fire will come from their midst as they battle against each other. The language is that God will destroy him and that the fire by which they will be consumed will come directly from God out of heaven. But we know now that God's judgments do not come directly out from the Lord upon the wicked but in this way: they place themselves beyond His protection. At that time Satan and his angels will get a taste of their own medecine. This time they will have no protection from the countless millions who shall turn against them. Now we know that it simply means that God will not interfere. sky "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.
Gibs Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Zec 14:12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. Zec 14:13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour. Heb 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire. There will be hopelessness among them, blaming one another for their demise, like you deceived me and kept me from hearing and coming to Christ. Who can Satan blame, but who can all else of the lost blame, what a conflict. Is not Yahweh that lake of fire that consumes all that is thrown in it and even death and hell are thrown into it and the last enemy destroyed will be death. 1Co 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. skyblue888 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 In the book of Jeremiah, chapter 30, verses 23,24 we read: "Behold, the whirlwind of the Lord goes forth with fury. A continuing whirlwind; it will fall violently on the head of the wicked. The fierce anger of the Lord will not return until he has done it. And until he has performed the intents of his heart. In the latter days you will consider it." In chapter 23, verses 20 we read, "The anger of the Lord will not turn back until he has executed and performed the thoughts of his heart. In the latter days you will understand it perfectly." We are living in the latter days and not only are we considering the anger of the Lord but we are understanding it perfectly by comparing 1 Chronicles 21:1 with 2 Sam.24:1. These passages tell us that Satan is the anger of the Lord and the verses we have just read from Jeremiah are speaking of the time when probation shall close and Satan shall have entire control of the impenitent. At that time it is said that the anger of the Lord will be complete. (Revelation 15:1) When probation shall close the Lord will say to His angels, "No longer combat Satan in his efforts to destroy. Let him work out his malignity upon the children of disobedience; for the cup of iniquity is full. They have advanced from one degree of wickedness to another, adding daily to their lawlessness. I will no longer interfere to prevent the destroyer from doing his work." R&H, Vol.4,335. Gibs Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Well anyway Sky I went back and didn't catch where you had posted from Zech 14 and I suppose you saw what I saw as it is very clear the time of it. Just a thought here on the fire in the midst of Satan. We know that God is Spirit and from him all life is given. Since Yah is that consuming fire and He is the life within Satan or any and so that life is lifted and the material substance if dwelling in a body is disolved then that person is consumed by by Him the consuming fire in reality. It certainly isn't something Satan can prevent even by his great knowledge. God only can take the Spirit and return it unto Himself and the entity be no more. Sky, we surely are not far away now when Satan will be restrained no longer. Following the true news, not the handed out lying news it is getting very unrighteous in all that is taking place. It is high time all made sure we are under His Wings that none can come through and none can touch His own unless it is for their good. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. skyblue888 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 ... the material substance if dwelling in a body is disolved then that person is consumed by Him the consuming fire in reality... Gibs ___________ I find that to be an obscure statement God is a consuming fire to sin. The burning bush is a perfect symbol of that. The bush was on fire but it did not burn. The Spirit consumes sin in us but it does not consume us. When Satan and all the wicked are destroyed they will destroy themselves. The Lord will not lift His little finger against them. It will be seen at that time that He is not (never was) the executioner of the sentence against transgression. Gibs Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 De 32:39 See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand. 2Ki 1:10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. There is many who say God does not kill but He says different. He will take care of Satan and all with Him and He alone can do it. The spirts of the wicked still live on but it will not always be. That is the secondd death for man and for Satan it appears his first but in reality he knows he is dead for a long time. What a realization to live with, worse than death, and he will have to spend a thousand more yrs of it when none but he and his angels are alive here. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Gibs Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Certainly Sky I sure do realize all will be after the one who deceived them and ultimately it comes down to Satan. I made that statement in one of my posts here. There will be a fierceness among them as has never been seen before, "you cost me eternal life!" will be heard loudly I am sure and many will say that to their onece beloved pastor. But I have yet to see that any but God can destroy the spirit of us or any angel or Satan. Sky are you one who believes God does not kill? Eze 28:18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. skyblue888 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Gibs, again, no offense, but are you hard of hearing cause this language has already been explained before and I know that you have been exposed to it. God said to David, "I will raise up evil against you out of your own house." This is the same language which is consistently used in the Bible. God said to Satan, "I will destroy thee, O covering cherub." Or "I will bring forth a fire from the midst of thee." The SoP, the Holy Spirit, explains that language. In the first case we are told that the words, "I will raise up evil against thee out of your own house," do not mean that God would prompt these acts of wickedness but that because of David's sin He would not exercise His power to prevent them. (P.P.739) If that language is explained in this way by the Holy Spirit, then to be consistent the Holy Spirit would have to explain similar language the same way. In the case of Satan, God says "I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations... they shall bring thee down into the Pit..." (Ezekiel 28:7,8) These words do not mean that God would prompt this act of wickedness but that He would not exercise His power to prevent the terrible of the nations from turning upon him with the fury of demons and they will bring him down into the Pit. This "Pit" is the lake of fire. (G.C.672) God says to Satan, "I will destroy thee, O covering cherub." It is the same here. God will not directly destroy him any more than He directly killed Saul. He will not exercise His power to prevent that from happening. God will not prevent Satan from falling at the hand of those whom he had deceived. sky "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.
skyblue888 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Sky are you one who believes God does not kill? Gibs _______ Gibs, we are trying to understand the language of the Bible, what the Lord means when He says, "I will raise up evil against you out of your own house," or "I will destroy thee O covering cherub," Or when he says, "I will bring fire out of your own midst," or when He says that He sent fiery serpents to the Israelites in the wilderness or when He says that He sends strong delusions to those who do not have the love of the truth, and similar language. This language is explained by the Holy Spirit in the writings of Mrs. White. sky "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.
Gibs Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Well Sky it is apparent to me that ultimately Yahweh Himself must do away with all the evil spirits of men and angels and some believe Nephilim. Yes it is a strange act Love must perform. We all are spirit beings and He made a body for us to dwell in. We will be brought back in resurrection 1 or 2. I will just add one Quote of EGW on this and will not pursue this subject further with you as neither of us or any others would benefit. The blood shed upon Calvary was the weight that sank them to ruin for this world and for the world to come. So it will be in the great final day, when judgment shall fall upon the rejecters of God's grace. Christ, their rock of offense, will then appear to them as an avenging mountain. The glory of His countenance, which to the righteous is life, will be to the wicked a consuming fire. Because of love rejected, grace despised, the sinner will be destroyed. {DA 600.2 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Q.E.D. Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Satan’s Power Forever Ended From the book Darkness Before Dawn, 1997, Chapter 10 "The Controversy Ended" "Notwithstanding that Satan has been constrained to acknowledge God's justice and to bow to the supremacy of Christ, his character remains unchanged. The spirit of rebellion, like a mighty torrent, again bursts forth. Filled with frenzy, he determines not to yield the great controversy. The time has come for a last desperate struggle against the King of heaven. {DD 59.1} Saith the Lord: "Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God; behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness. They shall bring thee down to the pit." "I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. . . . I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. . . . I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. . . . Thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more." Ezekiel 28:6-8, 16-19. {DsD 59.2} "Every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire." "The indignation of the Lord is upon all nations, and His fury upon all their armies: He hath utterly destroyed them, He hath delivered them to the slaughter." "Upon the wicked He shall rain quick burning coals, fire and brimstone and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup." Isaiah 9:5; 34:2; Psalm 11:6, margin. Fire comes down from God out of heaven. The earth is broken up. The weapons concealed in its depths are drawn forth. Devouring flames burst from every yawning chasm. The very rocks are on fire. The day has come that shall burn as an oven. The elements melt with fervent heat, the earth also, and the works that are therein are burned up. Malachi 4:1; 2 Peter 3:10. The earth's surface seems one molten mass—a vast, seething lake of fire. It is the time of the judgment and perdition of ungodly men—"the day of the Lord's vengeance, and the year of recompenses for the controversy of Zion." Isaiah 34:8. {DD 59.3} The wicked receive their recompense in the earth. Proverbs 11:31. They "shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts." Malachi 4:1. Some are destroyed as in a moment, while others suffer many days. All are punished "according to their deeds." The sins of the righteous having been transferred to Satan, he is made to suffer not only for his own rebellion, but for all the sins which he has caused God's people to commit. His punishment is to be far greater than that of those whom he has deceived. After all have perished who fell by his deceptions, he is still to live and suffer on. In the cleansing flames the wicked are at last destroyed, root and branch—Satan the root, his followers the branches. The full penalty of the law has been visited; the demands of justice have been met; and heaven and earth, beholding, declare the righteousness of Jehovah. {DD 59.4} Creation Delivered from Sin Satan's work of ruin is forever ended. For six thousand years he has wrought his will, filling the earth with woe and causing grief throughout the universe. The whole creation has groaned and travailed together in pain. Now God's creatures are forever delivered from his presence and temptations. "The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they [the righteous] break forth into singing." Isaiah 14:7. And a shout of praise and triumph ascends from the whole loyal universe. "The voice of a great multitude," "as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings," is heard, saying: "Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth." Revelation 19:6. {DD 60.1} While the earth was wrapped in the fire of destruction, the righteous abode safely in the Holy City. Upon those that had part in the first resurrection, the second death has no power. While God is to the wicked a consuming fire, He is to His people both a sun and a shield. Revelation 20:6; Psalm 84:11. {DD 60.2} "I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away." Revelation 21:1. The fire that consumes the wicked purifies the earth. Every trace of the curse is swept away. No eternally burning hell will keep before the ransomed the fearful consequences of sin." {DD 60.3} I think you are right Sky, the Spirit of Prophecy is pretty clear about it all. Q.E.D. Robert Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 One Perspective I [God] will strike the Shepherd. . . . We esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God (Mark 114:27; Isaiah 53:4). Another Perspective My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? (Mark 15:34). The Bible is very clear: Christ, as God, who knew no sin, became sin, as the Son of man. How did God treat Christ who became sin for us? The same way He will treat the sinner who rejects Him: He will have to abandon those who persistently reject the good news. Why? Agape can't compel...it can't force...it can't kill...it can't destroy. Sin is a destroyer. It pays in death. If God destroys then God is sin. Comprehend?
